What this is

When you've read the framework and don't have time to execute it.

There's a category of writing-heavy assets every successful architecture practice needs. Educational email courses that filter tire-kickers. Project roadmap books that justify charging for the audit. Authority newsletters that turn cold prospects into clients who call you first. The frameworks are public. The execution takes 20–40 hours of focused writing in your firm's voice. Most architects never find the hours. The Desk is the alternative.

The frameworks themselves live in The Practicing Architect — a community of architects working through this stuff together. Free to join if you want to read the protocols first.

01 // Architect-written

By someone who has done the work.

52 years as a practicing architect. HKS, Haskell, Marshall Erdman, StoneCreek, my own practice. ~$300M in projects across senior living, healthcare, restaurants, industrial, and Class-A office. Your deliverable doesn't read like a marketing agency wrote it because a marketing agency didn't.

02 // In your voice

Tuned to how you actually talk.

Every engagement starts with a 60-minute discovery call I record. I extract the specific phrases you use, the war stories that animate your point of view, and the cadence that makes you sound like you on a site visit. Then I build a custom voice profile before I write a single word of the deliverable.

03 // Capped on purpose

Slots are limited so quality doesn't slip.

Each service has a hard monthly cap — usually 3 per month, sometimes fewer. Real production capacity, not theatrical scarcity. When a month fills, you go in the queue for the next month. The cap is the reason your deliverable doesn't get treated like a template fill-in.

Available services

One service open now. Three more shipping this year.

I'm launching one service at a time. Each new service goes live after the previous one has five completed builds with member testimonials. That order keeps me honest and keeps your build process battle-tested before you sit in the chair.

Why this works

The frameworks exist. The execution doesn't.

Most architects read a marketing framework, agree with it, block off a Saturday to build the asset, write the first piece, and never finish.

This isn't a knock. It's what happens when you run a firm. The proposal that came in Monday becomes a fire by Wednesday. The site visit you didn't schedule turns into a Friday emergency. The framework sits in a Notion doc and the leads you would have nurtured stay cold.

The Desk solves that specific problem. You hand off the writing. I deliver the asset in your voice. You ship it. The cost of "I'll get to it eventually" goes away because someone else is actually getting to it.

FAQ

Questions worth answering up front.

Who is this for?
Licensed architects, firm principals, and sole practitioners who want a writing-heavy marketing asset built but don't have 20–40 hours to write it themselves. The services aren't for architecture students, interns, designers without licensure, or non-AEC consultants.
How are services priced?
Each service has a flat fee — no retainers, no deposits, no surprise charges. Pricing varies by service ($1,500–$5,000 range for one-time builds; monthly retainer pricing for ongoing services). The specific price is on each service's individual page.
What's the typical timeline?
Most one-time builds deliver in 21 days from payment. The process is: apply (10 minutes) → fit-check approval → pay → 60-minute discovery call within 7 days → voice tuning → first draft within 14 days of the discovery call → two rounds of revisions → final delivery in three formats.
How is this different from hiring a marketing agency?
Three things. One, I'm an architect — I've sat through cert reviews, argued RFIs on Saturdays, watched contractors miss-spec hardware. Marketing agencies write about architecture from the outside. Two, the deliverable is in your voice, not a generic "professional architect" voice — every engagement starts with a recorded discovery call and a custom voice profile. Three, no retainer, no scope creep, no ongoing dependency. You buy a finished asset and own it.
Why are slots capped each month?
Each build requires a 60-minute discovery call and custom voice tuning that I do by hand. Three builds per month is the maximum I can take without quality slipping. The cap is the reason the deliverable doesn't get template-filled.
What if it's not a fit?
The application form is the fit check. If your project type or ICP is genuinely outside what I can deliver well, I'll tell you before you pay. The point of the application is to save us both time — not to gatekeep arbitrarily.
